Boarding Policies and Procedures
- We happily provide boarding accommodations for dogs of all sizes, cats, and pocket pets.
- All animals must be current on vaccines for boarding. We require vaccines are current at least 7 days ahead to the first day they are dropped off for boarding. However, if a pet is due during their stay we are happy to update them at the time of drop off.
- Cat requirements: Rabies and FVRCP
- Dogs requirements: Rabies, DAP, Bordetella and Influenza
- All animals staying at Lone Star Animal Hospital must have a current exam on file (seen within the last 12 months) with a LSAH veterinarian. If your pet needs an exam with one of our veterinarians, a discounted, $25 boarding exam fee will be applied.
- Food and Treats must be individually bagged per day into separate meals. If large bags of food are brought in, clients will be asked to separate into individual bags before leaving. This ensures your pet is not over or under fed throughout their stay with us.
- We provide bowls, blankets, and bedding for your pet to feel more at home. To reduce the likely hood of personal items being lost, we recommend keeping them at home as much as possible.
- All dogs are walked at least three times daily. More walks are done depending on kennel volume.
- All kennels are cleaned and maintained throughout the day.
- All staff members are trained to monitor our boarding animals throughout their stay with us. Veterinarians are alerted of any potential problems. These include a poor appetite, abnormal bowel movements, or any other issues that may arise.
- If your pet should become ill while boarding, LSAH will treat your pet as authorized by you at admittance on your boarding form. Please be sure to provide a contact number, and we will attempt to contact you prior to any treatment.
- Upon pick up, a technician will be happy to review your pet’s progress during his/her boarding stay with us by using our camper cards.
- Sometimes our furry friends can get stressed out after boarding away from their humans for too long! If your pet returns home, and doesn’t seem themselves, please never hesitate to call us with any questions regarding your pet’s stay with us.
- All incoming boarders are given a 24-hour flea killer to help control fleas within the hospital. There is no charge for this application. Learn more about available in clinic preventatives here.
- Thick orthopedic beds provided in the runs and elevated feeding bowls.
- **New Boarding Expansion Alert:** We are excited to announce the expansion of our boarding facilities! New indoor dog runs have been added for your pets’ comfort and enjoyment.
- **Enhanced Features:** Raised dog beds or thick orthopedic beds are now available in the dog runs, along with raised feeders for added convenience.
- **Exclusive Feature Starting Spring 2024:** Enjoy 24-hour access to individual pet cameras, allowing owners to check in on their pets while they are away.
- Boarding is charged per calendar day, regardless of the drop-off or pick-up time during normal business hours.
- On federally recognized holidays, the clinic is closed. We have trained kennel technicians that will come during closed dates to take care of all boarders. During these dates (listed below) there is an additional fee of $10 per animal. New Years, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas.
- Additional fees of $5 per day will be incurred for adding additional feeding times, or use of kennel food, should you forget to bring your pet’s normal food. We happily care for pets needing special medications for a charge of $5 per day of medications, no matter how many times those medications are needed.
